Angelfish Care: Keep Them Clean and Healthy
If you are learning about angelfish care, then you might be wondering just what you will need and how you go about keeping your fish healthy and happy, and more importantly your tank spotless! Well, once you have your tank and your accessories, there are a few things you need to make sure of before introducing your angelfish into their new home. Fist, make sure that the water temperature is at the ideal temperature of 78 degrees. Check that your chosen filtration system is in good working order and, the most important factor is making sure that the pH levels in the tank are balanced. The ideal pH level for angelfish is from 6.5 to 6.9 and before you introduce your fish to the tank, you should ensure that you use a good water conditioner and check that the water is at the correct pH level.
Once your angelfish aquarium is up and running and you have introduced your fish, you might be wondering how you can keep your fish healthy and your tank clean. The first thing you should do is make sure that you do regular small water changes in the tank. Every day, you should change some of the water in the tank because this helps to keep your aquarium cleaner for longer. You should also change the tank fully at least once a week or every ten days to remove any build up of dirt and bacteria. When you make water changes, always ensure that you maintain the correct temperature and pH level in your tank!
You can also help to keep your angelfish aquarium clean by always cleaning up any food debris at the bottom of the tank. If left, then un-eaten food can cause build ups of bacteria which can be harmful to the fish, and it can also dirty the tank more quickly. Ensuring that the filtration system is running correctly will also help to keep the tank clean and remember that keeping your aquarium clean will mean that you angelfish will stay healthier for longer and happier.
You should also be sure to remove any algae from the tank regularly. Bottom feeders will help with this problem but make sure that you only add other fish which are compatible with the angelfish, but you can also do this by hand using a magnetic scraper or an abrasive sponge. Try not to keep the aquarium in the path of direct sunlight as well because this can cause algae blooms.
