my budgie is sick, perhaps has mites?

i think my budgie may be infested with the Knemidokoptes mite. the online advice says that it should be given ivermectin (an anti-parasitic drug PO (by mouth). my question is how does one do this when you have a high strung budgie with a sharp beak who just isnt going to cooperate and say ahhhh when you come at it with the meds?

Ivermectin administered by one drop to the back of the neck is the recommended dosage method. Wont get bitten that way either.

NOTE………..you said the budgie is sick and you have diagnosed mites via online info. What if you are wrong and the budgie is sick and needs the vet ? Treating it for the wrong thing and wasting time doing that may cost your bird its life. Budgies can have mites and not look real sick. So dont just assume its mites…there may be something else going on and trying to save money by not getting a proper diagosis from an avian vet may not be the best way forward for your bird.
