Aquarium Filter Waterfall
Is my aquarium current too strong?
I have a Bala Shark and some danios (small small fish) in a 10 gallon tank. I know it’s not the best tank size for a bala shark, but he’s small and it’s just until he;s ready for the bigger (159g) tank.
anyways, I have a hagen mini elite that I’ve used before for some fishes but i’ve always that it is REALLY powerful. I mean it’s rated for 3 gallons and it still pushed around my 10 gallon tank!
is it ok that he gets such a current? or should I use a different filter? I don’t want to buy another one so if you have any suggestions on how to slow it down (it’s on it’s slowest setting) and I’ve tried blasting it against the side, but it just won’t slow down and even when I make a waterfall yeah it really makes a lot of oxygen but it still pushes him around!

My tank has the same thing. My tanks 2 foot and its new same with the filter and i reckon its to strong for my fish to cause there on a slant kinda thing lol like there bodies aren’t straight and when they go near it they shoot right to the bottom of the tank.. Mines inside the tank so what i did is pushed it further down in the water than turned the nozzle towards the glass going upwards and its better for them there not slanting anymore. Filters aren’t cheap and mines the right size for this tank but i still reckon its to strong. You can buy other parts for filters. Tell your local pet shop what your filter is and you can can parts to turn it down. Im going to get an extra nozzle so the water is distributed properly all the way at the back of the tank than im going to get a part where its like a knob thing which can turn the speed down on your filter or up.
