Do I need an air pump if I have a filter already on my fish tank?
I have 3- 20 gallon tanks. We just got rid of our underground filter system and got the Marineland Penguin BIO-Wheel Power Filters. Do I need to put the air pumps back into the water too? Or will the filter provide enough oxygen?
The Penguin Bio-Wheel will provide plenty of gas exchange (aeration) and water movement for your tanks. The oxygen is no doubt at saturation levels in your water, just from the action of the power filters. It won’t hurt to use an air pump and air stones if you like the look, but it’s not needed for your water quality.
