Custom Fish Tanks Aquariums
Building a fish aquarium canopy, where can I get a small, quiet, low rpm fan on the cheap?
I just finished building my custom stand for my 75 gal aquarium, and now I’m building myself a canopy. I decided I want to put 2 small fans in the top to blow air out so the moisture doesn’t build up and rot/warp the tank. I’m looking at my chillpad for my laptop as I write this and I’m thinking something like it’s fans would work. So, anyone know where I can get something like that, which is small, and spins at LOW rpm, and thats relatively quiet that I can get and wire with my lights to a switch/timer? Thanks!
Depending on how comfortable you are with wiring and electricity (and I’m guessing you must be fairly comfortable since you probably put some lights in that canopy, right?), you could always try your local Best Buy, Circuit City, Etc.. You mentioned your chillpad, well I know they sell all kinds of fans for cooling down computers and/or entertainment cabinets in those stores and since the fans are primarily for gaming computers, game systems, stereo components and things of that nature, they should all have to be pretty quiet.
But based on the research I did trying to find a way to cool down my PS3, you will probably have to do some wiring to get it to work the way you want it to.
I also have no idea how the high humidity above your tank might effect them. They’re probably not designed with that situation in mind.
