Electric Gravel Siphon

Help on Fresh Water Extraction Pump for Aquarium Fish?

I am currently using a python siphon to take water out of my fish tanks, but it wastes a lot of water. It’s seems cheaper to purchase an electric pump to do my weekly water changes and a lot less wasteful. But, I’m clueless on what I should buy. I looked online and I have no idea what I should get. It seems I’ll need a pump and tubing/hoses.

Basically, I have 1 – 50 gal, 3 – 30 gal, 2 – 10 gal, and 8 – 1 gal fresh water tanks. I’m looking to have an electric pump with a flexible 50 foot tube hose that is easy to move from tank to tank and does it in an reasonable amount of time while I suck the gravel for waste. I plan to use my python to put the water back into the tanks. Thanks!

I did this with just a powerhead, one of the old Aquaclear 402 or 802 models and I just bought enough tubing at a hardware store to get from the farthest tank to my drain. you want to measure the outside diameter of the powerhead nozzle and get the same inside diameter of the tubing.

I did this to clean out a turtle tank so I didn’t have to stick my hands into their mess, and if it can handle a tank with turtles, it will handle a fish tank
