Nightforce Riflescopes – a Cut Above the Rest!
Chances are if you’ve heard of NightForce Riflescopes, the buzz may have been in hushed, reverent tones. NightForce has developed a reputation over the last few years as the benchmark by which other riflescopes are judged. Let’s take a look at some of the reasons why NightForce is garnering such praise, and why or why not it deserves it.
When it comes to high-end, precision riflescopes, NightForce has leaped to the fore as a leader in this space. NightForce riflescopes are the predominant choice among elite law enforcement and military units. There are two main lines of rifle scopes offered by NightForce. They are the NightForce NXS line, and also offered is the NightForce Benchrest models.
The NightForce Extreme Series (NXS) of rifle scopes is an amazing selection of scopes that have achieved cult-like status among serious and demanding shooters. These scopes are manufactured to the utmost in precision standards, and are now the benchmark in what is expected for durability, optical clarity, and accurate repeatability in long-range riflescope. The have undergone extensive testing and abuse, and have always come out on the other end as accurate and dependable as ever. It’s worth noting that more long-range shooting records have been made with NightForce scopes than any other.
Each NightForce riflescope is made from a single piece of 6061-T6 aircraft grade aluminum. NightForce NXS scopes are sunk to a level of 66 feet of water, frozen at -80 degrees, and baked to 250 degrees, and came back unfazed. They are also recoil and impact tested at 1200 G’s for both positive and negative forces. One independent tester went so far as to drive several nails into a 2X4 to see what would happen, and apart from slightly scratching the finish, there was no change in the quality of the optics. NightForce NXS is known the world over in terms for its durability in harsh or extreme shooting conditions.
These days when companies are cutting costs by using thinner and lighter components, the NXS body is 2-3 times thicker than almost any other riflescope. This greatly enhances its thermal performance, helping it to deliver a consistent zero and prevents degradation of internal components, improving its tracking and repeatability. NXS scopes are nitrogen purged and hermetically sealed to three atmospheres, thus ensuring reliability under any conditions.
NightForce also offers a benchrest model for varmint and benchrest shooters. The NightForce Benchrest models carry the same quality standards as the NXS series, just as clear and bright as the NXS scopes but lacking a side focus.
