Fill Valve
Trying to install new fill valve in toilet tank and can’t remove the old shank?
Also cannot loosen coupling nut from the underside of tank with tools I have. If I buy an adjustable wrench and am able to loosen coupling nut, will the shank be easy to remove? Lady in distress.
The shank is a plastic piece with the washer under. Very old?
15 yrs. old in high iron water.
Spray the nut with WD40 and let it “soak” while you’re at the hardware store getting the adjustable wrench. Don’t buy the smallest set you find, get something you can get some leverage with. After you get the nut off the “shank” will lift right out providing you have already disconnected the water line. Then just reverse the process putting the new one in.
