Improving The Antistatic Filter Bag Used For Dust Collection
There is a newer antistatic filter media called Epitropic. It is a conductive carbon sheathed polyester fiber, which can be mixed with other fibers to reduce the electrical resistivity of the resultant material. Non-woven conductive and epitropic fabrics are also designed to safely dissipate the buildup of static electricity while providing excellent air flow. Approximately, 1% epitropic fiber prevents discomfort from static in everyday clothing and carpets; about 2-5% epitropic fiber is necessary for fabrics for industrial filters and safety work wear. With the new safety and environmental laws in some cases your company will be forced to switch from your standard filter media to an Epitropic blend. This would prevent spark ignition and would greatly reduce the risk of fire.
Epitropic fiber consists of carbon particles embedded in the polyester fiber. When blended with regular fibers, it confers conductivity to textile fabrics – usually, although not exclusively, manufactured using nonwoven technology. Applications for epitropic fibers, where it is essential to safely discharge static build up, include safety work wear, carpets, upholstery an now filter bags. Epitropic fibers have also anti-bacteria properties. The growth of micro-organisms can contribute to a whole range of issues.
Epitropic is a non-woven material produced by combining layers (or batts) of loose fibers on a needle punch loom utilizing barbed needles to interlock the fibers. Recommended continuous operation temperature is not to exceed 275 Degree F. You will soon see a big demand for this product.
