will guppies be just fine with a filter?

i have guppies and every one says i need a air pump and airstone i have a 5 gallon tank with a filter and is that fine? or do i need air pump..

A good filter provides plenty of aeration for your water. I agree, if you keep the water just a little bit below where the filter empties the water into your tank, plenty of air will get into the water. I have never used an air pump with my filter.

Also, to whoever said that the guppies cannot swim against the current created by a filter, you are buying the wrong guppies. Anything that is so overbred, genetically weak, with such huge fins and poor swimming power that it cannot avoid a regular power filter is not worth buying. I have never had this problem with guppies. They have no trouble swimming with the current created by your power filter.
