Fish Tank 180
How many tropical fish can I put in a 180 litre tank?
There is no answer to this question. It entirely depends on the species of fish you are considering and their needs.
Be very wary of any “rule” that bases stocking solely on fish size. Fish have many other needs other than space, you also need to consider temperaments, whether they’re predatory or shoaling, whether they fin nip, bioloads, where they swim in the tank (top, bottom etc), their water chemistry needs and origin, and a dozen other things!!
It’s not as easy as going to a pet store and picking out 50 1″ fish randomly, those 1″ fish may grow, they may be very aggressive, they may need to be in a proper shoal, you may over crowd say, only the top layer of the tank and find yourself with the bottom virtually empty.
You need to do a lot of species research before you stock a tank! You also need to make sure it’s gone through the nitrogen cycle before you add any fish anyway.
