Fish Tank 50gal
Empty 50gal tank need info?
Hello there! ^.^
Im setting up a new tank and would like some info. In another 50gal tank i have:1 Male Betta, 3 platties, 5 neon tetras,1 Dragon fish, 3 black tetras and1 sucker fish (lol dont even want to try to spell its real name). Not wanting to do the same thing twice, I would like some options of other fish. I was thinking about getting some dwarf Cichlids. But i can’t seem to find very much on tankmates (besides some people saying they are or at least they can be commuity fish)
Thanks for the info on the Black Tetra’s but as for the dragon fish, I have had him in there for 1 year and he is doing fine ^.^
First, I would not add the dragon goby – these need brackish tanks, and are best set up in a species tank (no other types of fish than other dragon gobies). Tetras are schooling fish, so you should increase their number to at least 5 (on the black tetras). Some plecostomous species will grow to 18 inces, but there are others (that are more attractive/unusual) that stay smaller, some growing to just 5 inches – that gives you more room for other fish.
Yes, some of the dwarfs can exist in community tanks, and get along well with other fish except when they’re spawning. Then they’ll defend the nest site and fry just like any other cichlids. But in a 50-55, as long as you don’t overcrowd them, and provide plenty of plants (fakes are okay), driftwood, or rocks so they aren’t constantly in sight of other fish, they’ll be fine. Some to look at are rams (need excellent water quality, a little on the tender side), Apistogrammas, chromides, and keyhole cichlids.
