Fish Tank Brown Algae Bloom

fish tank brown algae bloom
Brown algae? Saltwater Aquarium! PLEASE ANSWER!?

I have a 33 Gallon Marine Aquarium with a few hardy fish in there, I had a Diatom bloom and it was on every thing, I can not afford a RO filter so I was told to leave the Water in a bucket for 48 hours prior the the water change. I started doing this and in a matter of days the brown algae cleared up! Why was this? The tank has been setup a month.

Diatoms are a common occurrence in a new tank. They always go away on their own quickly, usually giving way to stronger & more competitive algal life. It had nothing to do with letting your water sit out (although it’s usually good practice to give mixed saltwater some time to age before using it for a water change).
