Fish Tank Bubbles Sounds
Noisy fish tank air stone?
Hi, I have just added a air stone to my 35L tank, I have the correct size pump for my tank, the air stone is only about 4 inch long and 1 inch wide, but when air is pumped through it its bubbles very well but it is VERY noisy it makes a really loud humming sound, the air stone only cost me about £1 from ‘pets at home’ it is because its cheap??
Them pump its self is quiet its just the stone.
There are no holes etc in the tubing.
The stone will make a bit of noise, this is normal…
Bury the stone about an inch under the gravel to reduce the noise… it will make the bubbles bigger but it is still aerating the tank.
If you are worried about aeration tilt the stone so that one end is nearer the top of the gravel and making smaller bubbles and the other end is buried deeper.
We had a 12 inch long stone in our 4 foot tank… it sat at the back of the tank… we also had a huge filter though that drowned out the noise : – /
