how long wait after water conditioner to put in fish ?

we just got a 55 gallon fish tank and we put the amount of water conditioner that we are suppose to put but it did not say anything about how long i have to wait to transfer my gold fish.
what is the time frame for letting it set.

The tank should really be let to sit for at least a week with the filter running so that the tank can accumulate bacteria to break down fish waste. You can expect the tank to be unstable for the first six weeks after being set up. Without allowing the tank to cycle it will suffer from an ammonia spike, and there won’t be any bacteria to break it down.
