‘ De-Mineralized Water’ – Does this still exhist? Supermarket waters say filtered with no clue about minerals!
A’m I being subjected to yet another marketing lie? I have a clothes iron, ultrasonic humidifier and a fish tank that all specifiy -’de-mineralized water’ , but the supermarket waters say ‘filtered’ with no mention of evaporitive condensed or otherwise. A’m I behind the times ,of filter tech, to not understand that water can be de-mineralized as effectively as evaporative condensation? I need a clear ,monochromatic answer!
Distilled water is “free” of minerals and is what you want to use in an iron, radiator, humidifier ect. Reverse osmosis water has very few minerals, about 95 percent less than tap, and is a good 2nd choice. Spring water, tap water and charcoal filtered water has minerals and should not be used.
This is not a marketing lie. If you use tap water in an iron for a long period of time, a mineral crust will form in it, reducing it’s performance and possibly making a weird smell.
