Fish Tank Lids

Is It Necessary to have a fish tank lid on a 90 liter tank (Best Answer 10 Points)?

Nope it is not necessary. If you have calm fish that wouldn’t dare to jump out of the tank then you are good but if you have fish that jump a lot and like to escape then a lid is a good idea. If you don’t have the money for a lid then you can always make one. Please just don’t put a piece of wood over the tank unless all your fish will die because there would be no oxygen. All the lid really does is make sure the fish don’t jump out, holds the light and makes sure that other animals such as cats, birds and dogs don’t harm your fish and prevents fast evaporation. You can always just go out and buy mesh net and just cover the top with mess net so your fish can’t jump out and there still is air flow.

You should also consider since you don’t have a lid then you probably don’t have a light. Your tank does need a light on 10-12 hours a day. You can always just get a light and point it or face it at the tank.
