Fish Tank Light On Or Off
Does anyone know about fish tank lighting?
I need help! The lights in my saltwater fish tank aren’t working. When I go to plug them in they turn on and then turn right off. They don’t flicker or anything. Its like someone flipped a switch on and then right off. It is a T5 lighting system there are supposed to be 4 bulbs when they turned off yesterday I opened the canopy one of the bulbs was broken so I took it out. My boyfriend is out of town and I don’t know anything about electrical and I don’t know much about the system we have. Someone came over and we searched for hours for an answer. We know its not in the wiring, its not the ballast, its not the plug, not the outlet. We think it could be the end cap or that you need the 4th bulb to complete the circuit. Does anyone have any ideas at all? Thanks!
Its not that the bulbs are loose we moved all of them around to different spots. Its not the fuse because we connected a new ballast which has the fuse in it.
so everytime you plug it in it goes on for a while? couldnt be starters since T5 systems use electronic ballasts and do not require starters. i’m inclined to think that it’s caused by a loose connection.did you check the terminals? tug on the wires to check if the leads are connected securely.loose connection could cause sparks or electrocution. i’d refer it to a licensed electrician if you’re not sure of what you’re doing. somethings are best left to the pros. electrical works being one of them.
