What can you use as a hermit crab cage apart from a fish tank?
I really want a hermit crab so im putting things together for a cage. But the thing is I dont know what to use for the actual house part.
So thanks for the advice. Oh, by the way i cant use a fish tank.
When I first got hermit crabs in 2004 I used a plastic tub. The problem was I couldn’t safely heat it and keeping humidity was difficult. Also it was hard to see them. two weeks later I got a Ten gallon tank with a glass lid. 5 years later and the addition of several more hermit crabs I found a 100 gallon online for super cheep and my fiance built a plexi glass lid for it and the stand with heat lamps.
Sorry but you really have to you a glass enclosure with a glass or plexi glass lid. It’s the only thing that can safely be heated and will suit all of their needs. If you cannot provide a hermit crabs with it’s many requirements, please do not get hermit crabs. Keeping them in a tiny plastic box or cage is wrong. I learned my lesson early on and made the needed changes.
