What type of filtration system for a 55 gallon saltwater tank?

I want to get a banded snake eel and im wondering what type of filtration system do I need. Do i need to have a sump? Can I just get a canister filter or a hangon filter with a bio wheel? Thanks in advance…

for only 1 banded snake eel, you could use an HOB filter with no problems. i usually use these since canisters in my opinion are very noisy.

HOB filters are alot cheaper as well. 40 dollars at walmart. you could even buy 2 of these to keep it extra filtered.
