COMMUNITY FISH 28 GALLON COLDWATER AQUARIUM + HILLSTREAMLOACHES WHITE CLOUDS? overfiltered, aerated well kept?
have a 28 gallon coldwater tank with 11 white cloud mountain minnows and 3 hillstream loaches. (they are fed algae wafers so algae on tank is not an issue) The temp in my tank is a steady 21 to 23 always. It has wood and caves for the loaches, a plant thats edible and a hydor ario 2 air pump. it also has overfiltration by a long way (a 35 to 40gal tank filter and a 10 gal tank small filter).
ok so finally heres the question-
I want another fish to vary it that will be ok with them. it must be decent sized (10cm to 14cm approx) if it can be ok on its own fine, if i need 2 fine. I was thinking of goldfish (im going to uni in 8months so they wont get massive) if not then what else please specify.

do not add a goldfish, they’re heavy waste producers and will mess up what seems to be an already well established tank. goldfish are best kept in species tanks only, they do not play well with others, and you may find your WCMM going missing.
your tank is stocked with sub-tropical fish, there are a few fish usually classed as tropical that may survive at lower temperatures, but not many are going to be readily available. most fish you find in stores are imported from tropical regions of the world (such as india, thailand and the amazon) as these are the more desirable fish. i’m trying to think of small species off the top of my head other than WCMM and hillstream loachs, but all i can come up with are either super huge fish or brackish/saltwater all that would be no good to you!
