Preventing nylon teabags from leaking water?
I’m making a “teabag” out of nylon with a very small pore size of 0.45 microns. Big enough to let some water pass, but small enough to trap soil which is inside the bag. I need to contaminate the soil with a chemical in solution in a 1:1 mass ratio of water to soil so I think I will have some type of mud.
I need to seal the nylon bags preferably with heat before I hang them on a string and rotate them around a bath tub. The problem is, I don’t want to lose any liquid before the bag gets dipped into the tub. If I lose liquid, I lose chemical and my results will be off. How can I put the mud into the teabag, seal the teabag, and hang it over a bathtub before this happens? Remember the goal is not to lose soil or liquid, even a drop if possible.
I saw this trick at the county fair. Dip your hand into hot wax (not too hot)then remove your hand before the wax completely solidifies. The objective was to make a hand mold. The nylon should hold up to this procedure.
Plan B treat the nylon with an oil.
