reef aquarium maintenance question?

im new to keeping a Reef Tank and am still (after unclear answers), unsure about topping up my reef aquarium (which is currently just cycling, for just over a week). i have a 45 gallon tank and i plan to top the evaporated water every day. i know that fresh water is used to top the tank up, but im unsure about the methods and chemicals used to get the tap water into the aquarium, i do not have a sump (if that helps any answers). any advice will be appreciated!
thanks heaps

i agree that using RO/DI water is best, but be careful where you get it from. a poorly maintained RO unit makes water just as bad as tapwater.

i have a TDS meter (Total Dissaolved Solids) that i bought on google, it was $10 but they had a thing where you sign up for it and get $10 off your first purchase, i don’t know if they still do that.

i only use water from places that get 0’s and then i only use the water that stays at 0.
if, say i got a batch that had like 5 or something, i’d just go buy water else where.

how much were you planning on spending on the tank anyway?
you may just want to buy a home RO unit, should only be like $100-150 and most can put out about 50 gallon of water a day at that price.
