Nano Reef Tank Care

how difficult would caring for a squid be?

i think a squid would be a cool addition to my nano reef but i really have no idea what they would be like. do they have special needs? are they reef safe? would they eat everything in the tank?

The real problem would be that most squid will likely end up larger than your nano tank. The majority of species top 2 feet, and none are common in the hobby. In your tank, it will likely eat as many inverts as it can get a hold of– considering its intelligence, that would be most of them. Also, if it were to get stressed, it would likely ink. That ink is toxic and would kill virtually everything in the tank, including itself. Cuttlefish are more commonly kept, but are hardly reef safe themselves, though much smaller.
