Can I make a nano-reef out of a 1 gallon tank?

I have this ‘tank’: http://www.petco.com/product/104215/PETCO-1-Gallon-Corner-Aquarium-Kit.aspx?cm_mmc=CSEMGooglebase-_-Fish-_-PETCO-_-871761&mr:trackingCode=180BEC15-8381-DE11-B7F3-0019B9C043EB&mr:referralID=NA
And I hate it. It’s too small for anything!! (I’ve had it for a while with a Betta, but I moved her into a 10)
I have shrimp in my 10 gallon and the water will be too hard to keep perfectly stable for any kind of fish/shrimp to be put in here.

I want to make a 1 gallon nano-reef.
How expensive will this be?
I have:
The tank and accessories shown in that picture
A salinity meter thing (not sure exactly what it’s called)
Aquarium Salt
…the end.

Is this even possible? I am just trying to think of what I can do with this old thing and I really want a SW, but don’t have the room to put up a big one (or the money)

Any tips are appreciated! Thank you! =]

sorry, but no.

firstly while it is entirely possible to have a 1 gallon nano-salt tank, it is HIGHLY discouraged, unless you have that 1 gallon tank hooked up to a much larger sump-this is because small volumes of water fluxuate several times a day.marine life needs relatively stable conditions.

now-the tank you have.
The LIGHTING is the absolute biggest factor. the stock lighting that somes on that tank is NOT even closely compatable for a Reef Tank. corals, etc WILL DIE and quickly from improper lighting. furthermore, you cannot put correct lighting in that tank-it only takes cheap little screw in bulbs, very low wattage and output.

now-filtration, because of the size, filtration is going to be even more difficult. for a Reef Tank, you will ideally want a fuge at least, and a skimmer, no WAY you are getting it on that tank. theres ways to modify a HOB filter into a fuge, but it won’t fit on that tank.

aquarium salt is no good, you would need MARINE salt.

in addition to that, you would need live sand/crushed coral and live rock, other various “reef chemicals” etc.

why not save that tank incase you need to quarenteen a fish?
