New Reef Tank Brown Algae

Is a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser safe to use to clean the walls of an active saltwater Reef Tank?

I have a tank set up for about 2 months now. All of the levels look great, and the habitat is thriving – a little too much! I got some live rocks from the East China Sea wall a block or so from my house. There are all sorts of organisms that I’ve never seen in my life popping up in the tank. I enjoy watching them interact. The problem with this is, there are many types of algae as well… brown, red, green, sand color… and the one blocking the glass is the one I want to get rid of. I wanted to make sure the Mr Clean Magic Eraser is safe before I go spewing chemicals down in there and kill all my new little buddies. Thanks for your help!

Mary

From what I gather there is nothing in the eraser (i use them as well just not in the tanks) that will harm anything (as long as you don’t eat them)

I would suggest getting a razor or magnet scraper for the front of your tank. Or go to www.mrclean.com to see if you can get more info on contents of the sponge. It says nothing on the package.

I’d go with the razor scrapper or magnet scrapper. (my salt tank does the same thing)
