How to Maintain a Goldfish Aquarium – 25 Easy Tips

A beautiful aquarium can increase the beauty of any home. If you have goldfish in them then its beauty will be doubled because goldfish are very beautiful and lovable aquarium fish. But to keep your fish healthy you must maintain your aquarium properly.

These are the 25 very easy goldfish aquarium maintenance tips. If you can follow them you will see that your goldfish live happily for a long time:

1. Generally a goldfish may live from 5 to 10 years. But this mainly depends upon how you maintain your fish tank.

2. Always purchase your goldfish after you are complete with your aquarium set up process

3. Provide your fish with adequate food so that it remains healthy.

4. Ensure that your tank water is always clean and fresh.

5. Make sure that your tank is perfectly ready before you add fish to it.

6. During the preparation of your fish tank you must check the gravel that you are about to add, if it is clean enough.

7. You must keep the layer of the gravel very thin because the goldfish can sometimes be quite messy.

8. After this you can add tank plants and ornaments.

9. Before you add water to your newly prepared tank you must ensure that everything that you have added is perfectly clean and bacteria free.

10. Choose a fish tank with enough space because goldfish thrive better when they have enough space to swim and play.

11. Moreover, create a few hiding places for your goldfish inside the tank.

12. You can now add water to your fish tank.

13. You must place a de-chlorinator in the aquarium because chlorine contained in your tap water is dangerous for the goldfish.

14. As the fish tank is ready you can turn on the filter now.

15. You also need heather. The perfect temperatures for goldfish are 68 to 80 degrees F. But you must ensure that there are no rapid changes in the temperature because they goldfish may not bear that.

17. It is time now for you to add fish into your tank. But you must not add too many fish at one time. Do it with ease and time.

18. As your fish tank water grows old it gives birth to a lot of helpful bacteria as well which helps to keep the fish healthy. So it is always good to go with one or two fish at first.

19. One thing you must remember is that the nitrogen cycle of your tank will not initiate if do not add fish to it. So there is no point in running filter into the empty tank for many days.

20. Regarding water change for a new tank you can change 25% of tank water every week. You must do it a few weeks in the beginning.

21. Goldfish food is available in almost all the pet stores. When you buy your first goldfish do not forget to buy some food for it an s well at that time. You must feed the fish will small amounts for first few days.

22. The food residue will sink and settles down at the bottom of the water and may rot. But this rotten food may give birth to malicious bacteria and dangerously toxic chemicals which can even kill your fish. So always stay away from giving too much food to your fish.

23. Generally the nitrogen cycle inside that fish tank stops all the chemicals being generated. Moreover, this nitrogen cycle also generates foam which may make the water look cloudy for some time. You should not feel worried about it an s it is a perfectly natural process. Moreover, it is a proof that your tank atmosphere is healthy.

24. Always add new fish to the tank when the water inside is crystal clear.

25. Goldfish require a lot of space for healthy growth. They need enough space inside the tank for swimming and playing. So do not overcrowd your tank with too many fish.
