Proper Fish Tank Aeration
what do you think about my filter?
i have a 20 gallon tank with a few guppies in it. i notice that my guppies kept getting stuck in the “filter head” i guess you would call it, and after having had two fish die from it i removed the filter head and put a bubble stone in the pipe that the filter head was in. i was wondering if this would be sufficient enough to keep the tank clean (proper aeration) as well as not kill my fish? if you have any advice let me know i’d really appreciate it. thank you!
The aeration is nothing to worry about, as long as returning stream of water breaks the surface. However, by putting an airstone in place of the filter head, that would not allow particles to be removed by the filter because they can not fit in the airstone.
