Reef Tank Lighting Times
do you really need real coral/anemones in a saltwater tank?
im thinking of starting a 10Gallon Nano Reef Tank, and the lighting will be a normal flourescent hood.
Ill be using 2 “ghetto” rigged HOB filters and some live sand.
i would like to use fake coral decorations that have fake plants designed onto them. I’d also like to start with a few polyps and some mushrooms here and there.
Could this possibly work for 1-2 baby ocellaris clown fish?
How about turbo snails?
Btw… would an HOB filter suck up the live sand?
And…. do i necessarily need a different filter for saltwater?
(Planning on doing frequent water changes for such a small tank too btw.)
ALSO… would a clownfish adopt a fake anemone?
Anybody with past experience with the following would be great.
*7+ years tropical/freshwater fish keeping hobbyist* (first time saltwater noob) 
just to get this out of the way… Smaller tanks will be less expensive but harder to maintain.
But yes two ocellaris will work in a 10 gallon.
Normal lighting will not be enough to sucessfully keep real coral so polyps would not work. You will need to upgrade to a power compact lighting system at least.
The filtration will be the same and not it will suck up the sand. You dont fill the tank up with that much sand or you dont make the intake tube that low.
Clownfish can host in anything that they feel. Most will not host even in a real anemone but it is possible that they will host in the fake anemone.
But no real coral or anemones without upgraded lighting.
