Reef Tank Sand Bed Depth

Depth of Reef Tank Substrate (and other Qs)?

I’m setting up a Reef Tank and am double checking what needs to be done with the substrate. I assume “coral sand” is okay?

How deep should the substrate be (I just want a shallow bed)? Can I use a goby (species?) to keep the sand clean or do they need a deeper bed?

Thanks for your help. :)

u can make the substrate as deep as u want, by coral sand im assuming u mean crushed argonite or sugar sand, both are fine for gobys. a deep sand bed refers to the typical depth at which the ph of water in the sand drops and causes a few effects but thats irrelevant. people have no sand beds in their tanks and do fine, if u really want a sand sifting goby i would say an inch average is deep enough
