cycling marine tank with salifert ammonia test kit?
hii people,my question is im currently cycling my tank with to common clowns,im 3 week into my cycle and been testing every 3 days..ammonia,nitrite,and ph..all is fine but my ammonia is a salifert and it says if there is ammonia there it would be pale yellow to a bright yellow..my reading are coming back as a grey colour like cloudy water?does that mean there is a slight reading of ammonia??

Seeing that you’re already three weeks into the cycle, there really is no sense in telling you that cycling your tank with fish is cruel and inhumane. Next time you can cycle your tank fishless and accomplish the exact same results.
Now as for your current situation, have you looked at the expiration date of the Salifert Ammonia kit? It’s possible it might have expired. That would explain why your titration (color changing) readings are out of whack.
After three weeks, your cycle should be complete in a small tank with only two clowns (small tank is anything under 50g). If the Salifert kit is not expired, you should still test the ammonia with another kit. It’s possible the kit is just a bad kit even though it might not be expired.
