When to turn on and off the lights in fish tank?

I would like to ask, I have a BETTA fish, and I would like to know, is it ok to turn the light off in the tank over night, or should I leave it on, and turn off during the day. If on at night & off during the day, will he know when to rest and sleep. My BETTA fish like flakes more than meet pellets?

To be honest, your betta fish doesn’t really care if the light is on. The main pourpose of the light is so you can see your fish. So my advice is this, turn the light on when your are going to be around, and off when you are not. Do not keep the light on for more than 8-10 hours a day, otherwise algae might get out of control.

I have a timer on my tank that turn the light on for a couple hours in the morning when i’m getting ready for work, then off while I’m at work, then back on about the time I’ll be coming home, then off again in the evening. This works out really well.
