Why Did My Fish Tank Get Cloudy?

My perfectly clear tank became cloudy. I’ve followed all of the cleaning techniques twice and used an additive to the tank with no help at all. I see white deposits on the surface plastic top of the tank like “hard” water. Is this possibly the problem? What other things can I try.

How long has your tank been set up? If it is less than 6 to 8 weeks you’re probably experiencing “new tank syndrome”. Look up the nitrogen cycle on a tropical fish website (I highly recommend www.fishlore.com) to understand how the aquarium establishes itself and you’ll be a lot better able to care for your fish properly.
