Fish Tank Cycling Time

How can I cycle a tank that is meant for shoaling fish?
I know that when cycling a tank I shouldn’t add more than one or two fish at a time. But if I am using the tank for shoaling fish, they should not be added in groups less than five or six. Given, these fish are quite small, but I don’t want to hurt them. Any suggestions? (And no fishless cycling, please, I understand that already I want to know how to do fish cycling)
The best way to cycle a tank that is going to require a group of fish being added all at once, or very fast growing fish, is to add a supplemental filter called a fluidized bed filter. This filter rapidly colonizes with nitrifying bacteria and accommodates large changes in fish population other filters can’t. But is is not a filter you would use alone. It must be used with another filter such as a canister filter, Mattenfilter, wet/dry filter, or a power filter.
