Do tanks for fish work for rats or should I get a bar cage?
But If I get a bar cage, how close do the bars have to be so they cannot escape. If it helps, I am going to get two female small rats.
Rats should NEVER be kept in tanks as it irritates their respiration. The bars should have half inch spaces so their can’t escape. Make sure the cage is big enough

P.S. “Small” rats will grow just as big as “large” rats. Small is just a feeder term for young.
