Water Conditioner
How often should i add conditioning salt and water conditioner to my tank fish?
I have a 10 gallon tank and i was just wondering how often should i put conditioning salt, water conditioner and bacteria supplement? how often should i clean it? and is there any other supplement that i should put in the water to make my fish stay healthy?
For most fish tanks (75 gal. or smaller) conditioning salt only needs be added to the tank when you change the water, and for the amount being changed. You should also add about a pinch for every time you add any new fish to the tank, conditioning salt can help to reduce stress in any fish.
Water conditioner and bacteria supplement should only be added to new water in a tank for when you are changing the water. no need to add it any other time.
You should have water quality checks done on your tank at a minimum of once a week to catch any early signs of anything going wrong. Most pet stores will check water quality if you ask them, or you could just buy some of those 5in1 test strips and record the data. This is the best thing you should do for any tank.
Your fish should stay relatively healthy, provided no diseases get added by incoming fish.
